I fastened it to my dashboard with a piece of self-sticking Velcro and it stays put. To calibrate, just press 2 buttons and then drive clockwise slowly in a circle, and then press a button again. That's it. I checked directions against my GPS and it's very close. I even put in the declination for my location and the letter D shows on the screen, so it's VERY accurate and safe, because I don't have to take my eyes off the road.
